Abstract

The concept and basics of leadership in Islam are inspired by the Qur'an and hadith. And the substance of the concept of leadership was then practiced by the Prophet Muhammad Saw during his lifetime. And nowadays, the implementation of leadership values taught by the Prophet Muahammad Saw has been quite rarely practiced by leaders who have power and authority.This research method uses literature studyLeadership is a very important element in human life, especially if it is associated with a community or country. In a country, it is impossible to run normally and conducive without a leader. If the subject of leadership is examined with a Qur'anic approach. Then it can be found, that in the Qur'an often find verses that discuss leadership. The term leadership in the Qur'an itself can be found with several terms, including: Ulil amri, khilafah and Imam.Meanwhile, the criteria of the most important leader in Islam are as follows: 1). Able to revive religion. 2). Lead with authority. 3). Able to uphold justice and security. While according to Ibn Kaldun. The criteria for Islamic leaders are 1). Have a commendable character. 2). Generous. 3). forgiving. 4). Patient. 5). Glorifying religious law. 6). Being fair and behaving according to religious rules and shari'a. 7). Abstain from reprehensible acts in Islam.
